The National Coalition for Church Vocations in Chicago is now
promoting the game. They say this: “Mission Ascent is well done. The
variety of saints noted, the mission of each, and the scripture and
situational cards that creatively encourage exploration of important
elements of life choice. It would appeal with the middle school child
to adults. Not only is it a resource for schools but also is excellent
for families and intergenerational settings.”
Our
diocesan director says this: “Mission Ascent is a great board
game to help youngsters, Junior High and older, to become familiar with
some of the Saints. I highly recommend it and the parishes that have
purchased it tell me how much their students are learning from active
involvement in the game.” Barbara A. Smith, Diocesan Director,
Office of Catechetics and Initiation, Diocese of Portland, Maine.
Student:
Michael from Lewiston, Maine “This game is fun and it helps us to get
closer to God, not many games do that.”
Student:
Christina from Augusta, Maine “I like how I got to learn more
about the Saints and faith.”
Student:
Lizzie from Bath, Maine “It was fairly easy and fun, a good
way to learn about the Saints, and also because you win prizes!”
Student:
Grace from West Paris, Maine “If I saw this game in the
store, I would mention it to my Mom and hopefully it would show
up at our house.”
Parent:
Pauline Taylor from Lewiston, Maine “Mission Ascent is an experience
that all families should share. Don’t miss this adventure!
DRE
from CT: We are thinking of having a Family Game Night at the parish
to help families come together and share faith. This will be excellent!
